BIO
Claire Christine Sargenti is a double Sagittarius with a Scorpio Moon, although she identifies more with her Vedic birth sign of the snakebearing Ophiuchus. As an interdisciplinary artist, Claire is largely inspired by the intersectional feminist movement and works primarily with her signature colors of black, white and pink. Her work has been seen at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, as well as in galleries, digital spaces and print publications nationwide. She is the creator of the world’s largest spinning vulva sculpture and occasionally moonlights as a street artist under the pseudonym PALEO. Some of her favorite pieces include Vagina Book, Pussy for President, Let Love Be Viral and her award winning Interludes: A New (Orleans) Play. She is very excited to be releasing her upcoming Noble Moon Tarot Deck & Grimoire in the Summer of 2023. In a past life (also known as the early 2000s) she trained at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City and danced professionally with the Royal Ballet of London, the Beijing Opera Ballet and New Bridges Ballet, the latter of which she also served as the founder, artistic director and choreographer. When a rare disease ended her ballet career and threatened her ability to walk, she found solace in alternative healing, spirituality and mysticism. Through her own healing process, Claire has become a yoga teacher, psychic reader, Reiki Master, Crystal Therapist and Advanced Crystal Master. She is a San Diego native and a New Orleans witch.
Artist Statement
Through my art I seek to celebrate the human experience through visual storytelling that inspires thought, compassion, and positive change in the individual and collective viewer. Working at the intersection of mysticism, gender identity and psychedelics, my mixed media and cross-genre work calls into question the status-quo while promoting a message of love, all in my signature color palette of black white and pink.
